Michon Good Works – Social responsibility, it’s everyone’s responsibility

CSR used to be the realm of large corporates wanting to offset some of their profit to supporting good causes. As an independent SME in the creative industry you might be forgiven for thinking that social causes aren’t really on our radar. Here at Michon we believe it’s everyone’s responsibility to contribute to a brighter future for generations to come.

You’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn how passionate we are about doing our bit to create a stable global future. For example, recently we’ve donated 400 hours in account management and creative time to supporting the Young Creative Awards (YCA) event back in May. And later this year we’ll be unveiling a whole new brand to take the YCA into 2016 and beyond. Our involvement alongside other stakeholders has helped to raise the profile of this important project, it means that the YCA team can focus their internal resources and budget on developing further opportunities for Nottingham’s 13-24 year olds. Recent coverage in The Guardian is testament to why supporting Nottingham’s creative scene is crucial and if more people get behind the YCA we can ensure it continues. We also offer placements and paid internships to students and graduates wanting a career in design. Past interns Andy and Charlotte are now key members of our creative team. We’re always on the lookout for new talent and try wherever possible to recruit juniors from the Nottingham creative pool.

We support the Kenyan Education Service (KES). Since we created their brand and collateral toolkit they have really gathered fundraising momentum. This year we’ve been pleased to learn a further 13 scholarships have been awarded at The Bahati Division Academy.
We’re now also working with Rainbow’s hospice for children and young people to develop their brand strategy. We’ll keep you updated on the progress.
